Cold Wax and Oil - Getting Started -TBA

Place: My Parksville Studio

This workshop introduces the basics of abstract painting with oil paints and cold wax medium. Students will learn about the materials and processes.

Studio Setup: Materials, equipment, safety, and disposal 

CWM/Oil  Proportions, solvents, mediums

 Color mixing – I will demonstrate color mixing with a simple palette to achieve endless variations of colour.

 Through demonstrations and hands-on work, the basics of composition including design, balance, and colour relationships will be covered. There will be a focus on mark-making and building up layers as well as painting wet into wet.

We will paint with palette knives and wedges. Very little brushwork will be done. 

No previous painting experience is required, only a positive attitude and a desire to learn something new!

 Each student will get a container of homemade cold wax. 

Oil paint will be supplied. 

The student will be responsible to bring tools and substrates.
